Absence

A week of catch-up and recovering from 27 hours travelling on about an hour's sleep (time in Australia hugely enjoyable and very well worth it!) but nil activity on Prediction suggesting all is unwell with Blogger. When this happened before I think it solved itself within a few weeks, so am inclined to give it a chance and post new words today and see what happens.

Try scissors. snore  and waterfall and we'll see how it goes. Any other suggestions warmly welcomed.

  1. After the battle
Thunder snored, snouting over the mountain, and grumbling into the distance like a restless giant. As the sound quieted, lightning scissored the darkness with unbroken jagged light revealing dark outlines of people trudging through the waterfall of mossy vines trailing pale sparked boulders at the edge of the lake.
Huge spiked clubs shadowed their shoulders, swords swung at their belts and blood stained their tunics
The men under the mountain were coming home .

    3. Glad it worked for you, Terrie. Hope everyone else has the same luck. The problem never did resolved itself in my case. :(

    4. Your first paragraph, Terrie... writing doesn't get any better than that.

  2. Also, haven't seen Dorothy/Antonia around anywhere in quite some time. Does anyone know if she's okay?

  3. Hurrah for activity, albeit not full scale. I'm away for the weekend but will endeavour to post something before Thursday evening.
@ Patricia - Antonia has been absent for a while; we've no information as to how she is.

  4. MY BARBER RUDY

My barber Rudy chose this spot by the waterfall for my haircuts believing he worked better in beautiful, peaceful environs. And, he always proclaimed, I deserved the best.

Nearing the waterfall, I saw Rudy was already there, sitting slumped upon the rock that served as a barber chair. I chuckled because not only was he sleeping, he was loudly snoring!

I carefully took the scissors he held and without delay plunged them deeply into his neck. I watched smiling as his blood poured out.

He stared at me, eyes full of question.

“That’s for my lousy haircut last time, Rudy.”

    1. As always a neat little sting in the tail for this weeks entry. Note to self .... never annoy Jim and always hide any potential weapons in his company ... just in case .

    2. I echo Terrie's reluctance to annoy you, Jim ...

  5. The Seamstress and the Scissors

Once a handsome Prince was entombed behind a frozen waterfall. Cursed to sleep for eternity the only sign that he was there was the sound of his incessant snoring. Maidens tried to rescue him and win his favour. But their swords and axes could not smash the ice. A hundred years passed before the seamstress came with her magical scissors. Snip-snip-snip she went, and cut a hole in the ice. Up she crept to clip a clothes peg on his nose.
“At last we'll get a decent night's sleep,” she said, sewing the icy hole firmly shut.

  7. Thresholds new [1 ]

Last night Raven’s shouting woke me. Apprehension chilled me through; it took time to return to sleep.
In the morning he denied it. Claimed I'd been snoring loudly, then recalled our vows to strive for harmony, he reassured, ‘Today should see an end to this adventure and we’ll begin anew–’
‘Provided we survive the final challenge.’
He heard my pessimism. ‘You doubt the directions we were given?’
‘I question the efficacy of a pair of scissors to cut our way through a waterfall.’
Have faith. An hour’s walking will prove your fears unnecessary.’
