The Final
ReplyDeleteI was there. The last ever football match. Crystal Palace versus Queen's Park Rangers. All to play for. Mixed teams of men and women. Each one of them a trained astronaut. The winners would board one of the star arks bound for a distant galaxy. The losers would be executed as an encouragement for others to volunteer for euthanasia before the meteor hit. Lethal injections awaited in the changing room. The distant ball of fire was visible now in the sky. Closer by the day. The referee blew his whistle for kick off.
As always, David, you created a novel, entertaining entry for us to enjoy.
DeleteFirst read, impressed at the cleverness; second admiration for your inclusion of the prompts. Great stuff, David.
ReplyDeleteA FOILED ATTACK
ReplyDeleteA special unit of the Mylatte army stealthily advanced through the thick forest toward the palace of Queen Valoria. Their plan was to overwhelm the Queen’s experienced Imperial Guard and capture the evil queen. Once seized, Valoria would be executed for heinous war crimes inflicted upon the Mylattian people.
Poised to attack, the Mylattian force was halted by a loud whirring sound and the appearance of a huge shape overhead. Suddenly, scores of troops were pulled upward.
Just as suddenly, the sound stopped.
Soldiers not pulled upward heard a voice above them yell, “Mom, the vacuum cleaner is clogged again.”
Been a busy week so struggled a bit to create something. Here's my last minute offering .
ReplyDeleteThe queen of sorcery ran her finger down the page.
The Spell-book shuddered and the page rippled at her touch, causing the black sigils to tadpole and spiral into a new-formed spell. Drawings on the page jerked into movement. The maiden became a toad, sun dipped into moon, and the knight with sword mutated into an executioner and axe.
The queen smiled and addressed a toad sat on a chair, ‘That should keep the righteous fools away from the palace’
The toad inflated a little, a bubble formed at the corner of its mouth and it gave a feeble croak.
Your choice of verbs in this entry, Terrie, is especially impressive.
